Thinking about my dad this Father’s Day is not like most of my friends I see posting about their dad. My dad wasn’t a good provider. He didn’t love his daughters the way a loving father should. My dad was an abusive alcoholic who died when I was 14 years old. Every Father’s Day used to be a reminder of that. Seeing my friends’ posts of their dads and what their dads meant to them was something I could never relate to.
That was until a year and a half ago, at the age of 45, when I was adopted into God’s family. Seriously friends, since then I have experienced the love, protection, provisions, discipline and forgiveness that only the best Father can give. I won’t get all preachy on you but I’m here as a living testimony to the wonderful love you too can have.
It is never too late with God. He’ll meet you right where you’re at and welcome you with open arms. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” Luke 15:20
